In 1979, a British journalist , writing for The Guinness Book of World Records was sent to Tokonoshima, a small island in the southern region of Japan, to Interview Shigechiyo Izumi. At the time of the interview, Mr. Izumi was a spry 115 years old (he lived to be 120 years old). What was remarkable about Mr. Izumi, was his excellent health and vitality. Aside from a hearing impairment, Mr. Izumi was an excellent health, and suffered none of the ailments common among the elderly.
What was even more astonishing was the fact that most of the elderly on this island enjoyed the same health and longevity. The journalist persuaded Mr. Izumi to consent to a physical exam. The results were nothing short of amazing. How could a man of his age be so healthy?
Upon returning to Great Britain, the journalist shared his findings with the medical community. A study was soon begun on this island. What was the secret to the long life and vitality found among the residents there? They discovered that the secret was in the water . The water found there was unlike water anywhere else in the world. Not only did it contain many essential minerals, but it was very alkaline, with a pH of 8.6.
The secret is in the islands themselves. The islands were formed on ancient reefs of Sango Coral, a species not found anywhere else in the world. Rain water percolates through the ground, becoming infused with calcium and other trace minerals, and changing the pH of the water. The minerals found in the water were remarkably close in composition to those found in the human skeleton, body fluids, amniotic fluid and blood.

How It Works
Not only does coral contain all of the minerals found in the human body but, they are naturally in similar proportions as the human body. Most important of all is how effectively these minerals get into the blood stream. It is easy to swallow mineral supplements but the body has a difficult time transporting most minerals from the digestive tract to the blood. Through the organic source of coral minerals, they have the inherent ability to rapidly enter the blood stream. The calcium and the other 73 minerals and elements found in coral are highly bio-available.

What Okinawa Coral Calcium contains
Okinawa Coral Calcium contains calcium, magnesium, sodium, potassium, essential trace minerals and many other microscopic elements essential to human life. In addition, it contains antioxidants known to help protect the body from free radical damage. These minerals and elements become ionic in water and are promptly bio available to the cells. This was a major discovery due to the importance of calcium in the body. It is scientifically documented that up to 150 diseases are related to calcium deficiency. For this reason, it is often called the "king of minerals". But in order for calcium to do its
work, the body must convert it to an ionic form. That problem is solved as the coral calcium becomes ionic immediately in water for use by the body. The body is simply able to absorb and use this calcium and these minerals to a much greater degree.

The secret of coral calcium is its absorbability.
Conventional mineral supplements are only about 10 percent absorbable by the body. To overcome this absorption problem colloidal mineral supplements have been developed and are 95 percent absorbable by the human body. the minerals in coral calcium are naturally ionised and are even more absorbable than colloidal minerals.

What Minerals Do
Minerals are the most basic building blocks of nutrition. The foods grown in this day contain but a fraction of the minerals as they did a century ago. Even when these depleted foods are ingested, the body has a difficult time getting minerals into the blood stream. The end result is a mineral deficient population that is in need of bio-available minerals.
All minerals are important, especially the trace minerals. Every mineral has a crucial role to play in the human anatomy. For every mineral, there are several other minerals that must be present and in turn, those minerals must have other minerals present, or the mineral will not do the job required by the human body.

Full Spectrum Source of Minerals
Coral Calcium contains every mineral, in similar proportion, found in the human body. This is vitally important because some trace minerals are entirely missing from our food and supplements, yet these minerals occur in the human body for a reason. The human body functions synergistically: the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Every mineral has a crucial role to play in the human anatomy.
For every mineral there are several other minerals that must be present in the proper amount and in turn, those minerals must have other minerals present, or the mineral will not do the job required by the human body. Supplementing the diet with Coral Calcium may help keep all mineral levels up and each and every mineral in balance.

Interesting Fact:
The first documented medicinal use of coral is by the Arabs in the 16th Century. The oldest pharmacy in Spain was built in 1685 in Panaranda de Duero in northern Spain. This pharmacy, now part of a museum, displays a container of "ground up" coral with the inscription "Coral stone to purify the blood" and further states that the coral has a beneficial effect upon the heart and elevates the mood of the person taking it.
Ancient cultures were aware that coral's 73 minerals and elements are key for the healthy to remain healthy and for the unhealthy to regain their vitality.

Why is coral calcium such a remarkable product?
Recent research has uncovered the health secrets of the six longest living cultures from around the world, where people are free from diseases like cancer, heart disease, diabetes, arthritis, lupus, osteoporosis, multiple sclerosis, mental illness, etc., and typically live a healthy life for over 100 years.
The common characteristic in all these centenarian cultures, was not their diet, but their unique water sources which contains huge amounts of ionic calcium along with other minerals. Except for the Okinawans in Japan, the other disease-free centenarian cultures of the world, including the better-known Hunzas (the inspiration for Hilton's legendary place called Shangri-La), live in the mountains and get their water from melting glaciers. This water, which also feeds their crops, is so white with minerals it is called "the Milk of the Mountains" or "Glacial Milk".
In Okinawa the ionic calcium and other minerals come from the coral reefs and is referred to as "The Milk of the Oceans" or simply "Coral Calcium".
Dr. Linus Pauling who won the Nobel Prize twice said, "Every disease is directly linked to a mineral deficiency."
Congressional Document #23476 states, "There are not enough minerals in the soil to support the health of our bodies." But even if most of our diet is from mineral-rich food like raw, organic, green leafy vegetables, we still may not be able to consume enough calcium to prevent or overcome disease effectively because of the increase of toxins in our environment. Things are not the same as they were years ago.
Therefore, it can be assumed that the body may be aging at an accelerated rate even if it hasn't gotten to the point that disease is obvious. Minor symptoms like aches and pains, headaches, weight gain, leg cramps, forgetfulness, nervous tension, irritability, PMS, etc., are often the first signs of deficiencies. Since we don't have the same water that the centenarians have we need to take calcium supplements.
One can effectively get minerals from pills, but before the recent discovery of this Ionic Coral Calcium the only calcium supplements available were poorly absorbed (only in the 2-15% absorption range), and can result in kidney and gall stones and even hypercalcemia which can cause symptoms like constipation, or even cause comas. This is because single minerals can create an imbalance in the body. Minerals tend to react with one another to create a reciprocal and harmonious electrochemical balance in the body if the right proportion is provided.
Alka-Line Coral Calcium, like the glacial water, provides many minerals, but uniquely has a composition almost identical to human bone in content and proportions. It has been found by Swedish scientist to be nearly 100% absorbable because it's in the ionic form, and it's absorbed in only 10 to 20 minutes, not the normal 10 to 20 hours for absorption of the elemental forms, which also tend to harm the digestive process.

Alka-Line Coral Calcium - sachets
If your body's pH level is not alkaline, you possibly cannot properly assimilate vitamins, minerals and food supplements. By drinking 1.5 litres or more of good water (distilled preferred) per day treated with a single 1-gram sachet of Alka-Line Coral Calcium (or the highly active Coral Calcium Gold with trace silver - see below) it may be possible to balance and maintain your body's proper pH levels. It makes good sense to additionally increase your daily calcium intake.
SUGGESTED USE: Place one (1) Coral Calcium bag in 1 1/2 quarts or liters of distilled or good water, wait five minutes and drink throughout the day. The amount of Coral Calcium may be increased as needed. Coral Calcium granules do not dissolve in water. The minerals are leached out from the coral calcium. Use Coral treated water in any water based liquid drink.

Robert Barefoot is leading author on this subject and in his recent book he stated that :-
" It is important to recognize that two broad, but distinct types of coral calcium are used as health giving supplements by the Japanese and many people throughout the world. The first type is fossilized calcium that has been deposited on the landmass, or washed up on to beaches. The second type is taken directly from the seabed. It is marine bed coral. This seabed coral is the coral that has dropped from the reef or is processed by reef inhabitants. This type of "coral sand" has been washed to the ocean floor by wave actions. Marine coral is closer in composition to the living forms of corals, because many minerals and organic elements are retained, in comparison to fossilized, land-based coral."
